Dogs sadly sometimes have a little bit of difficulty simply coping with our human world. They need some help to learn how to interact with the world around them and many times they need help to cope with issues that cause them troubles on a day to day basis. Some common problems we help with are:* puppy and dog aggression, snapping or nipping * stopping your dog barking * stopping your dog chasing traffic * separation issues, toileting issues, being destructive * light chasing * fireworks fear, and other phobias * jumping and recall problems *
But, what is dog behaviour therapy?
Modern applied dog behaviour therapy is about getting to the root of your dog's problems, holistically. There's no point in just looking at 1 particular aspect of your dog's barking problem. It's necessary to look at the big picture and consider everything your dog is having difficulty with. Your behaviourist develops a step by step plan that essentially helps your dog feel better in all the situations that are causing problems. Behaviour therapy goes beyond just training, to deal with the reasons that your dog has difficulty with learning. Read more about how Anna's dog behaviour help works here.To book an appointment, or just to have a chat, please call us. Anna will be happy to answer any of your questions about how behaviour therapy works and discuss any concerns that you have. Then we set up an appointment where
- we meet for about 2 hours,
- help you to understand why things are going wrong and
- what it is that you need to do about it and
- how to move forward by yourself.

Or we can set up a more detailed phone programme to discuss your dogs issues in more detail and help you to really understand what's causing him problems and how to go about fixing them.
This service was started to help people living in the rural highlands, but can also serve as an excellent starting point for anyone.
Having a behaviour chat can resolve your confusions on the different dog behaviour methods, and ensure you don't make mistakes.
Again, this is educational, helping you to fully understand the problems your dog is facing and helping you to build your own behaviour programme.
There are 2 options - You can call now for some quick behaviour advice and tips or you can book an in-depth phone session for a detailed behaviour help - it's not as good as meeting of course, but the phone consult can either help to get you started or allow you to seriously determine how much behaviour help you want.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What kind of behaviourist are you?
This is an excellent question. The industry is not regulated and essentially anyone can call themselves a behaviourist. Furthermore, there are many 3 day online courses now which offer "diplomas". And even more confusing are the books and TV programs and online advice that's throwing itself at us and confusing us even more.
Our qualified dog behaviourist is Anna Patfield. Anna has been fixing dogs' behaviour problems since 2003 and has worked with all sorts of problems from biting to fireworks fear and separation problems. She'll be happy to answer and resolve any confusions that you have with all the conflicting advice that surrounds us nowadays. What are the good new books? Which training books should be avoided? How do I know if a behaviourist is qualified?anna dog behaviourist
Anna uses only the most modern approaches to help your dog. The critical difference with Anna's approach is that it is truly holistic. It's most likely, in fact that the reason that whatever you've been doing so far hasn't worked well enough is because there are factors about the dogs life that have been overlooked. Day to day life can have a significant impact on your behaviour - as it can with your dogs. The Pawsability Holistic approach ensures that everything relevant is brought into the programme for the best possible solutions.
